Anthony was one of Oakland's first National Board certified teachers. After eighteen years teaching middle school math and science, Anthony now coaches science teachers across the Oakland (CA) Unified School District. He has led numerous collaborative teacher action research groups, and has probed how students can be engaged in developing their own scientific investigations. He helped develop Full Option Science Systems (FOSS) middle school curriculum, and been part of Wested's Understanding Science curriculum team. He has published highly popular "Teaching Secrets" columns on Teacher Magazine, and has a regular blog there, "Living in Dialogue." He is an active member of the Teacher Leaders Network.
