Myla Lee, elementary educator and teacher leader for Novi Community Schools (Michigan), implements literacy-integrated, project-based units in the classroom where students lead the learning they are experiencing, grounded in technology and current best practice.
In addition, Myla serves as a national consultant and facilitator for such experiences. She has presented her work at Michigan Reading Association and International Reading Association conferences, focusing on various literacy topics first field-tested in her classroom. Much of her work with parents and teachers explores inquiry in an authentic classroom culture.
Myla graduated from Michigan State University with a B.A. in Education, with a strong emphasis on social studies and language arts. Myla continued her educational pursuits at Oakland University (Michigan), earning an M.A. in Reading and Language Arts. As a teacher/researcher, and in collaboration with university educators, Myla has researched, presented, and co-published on multi-cultural reading, education, and book club practices. She strongly believes that project-based learning is the platform for rigorous learning steeped in literacy integration.
