Events

In addition to the Onsite Services that we offer to districts and schools, the Buck Institute also offers a series of PBL events throughout the year to deliver professional learning opportunities for individuals and teaching teams. These events include workshops, keynotes, and community building opportunities.

What to Expect

  • Facilitated by one of BIE’s expert National Faculty, our PBL workshops are a blend of direct instruction, video analysis, hands-on work, resource sharing, and peer collaboration and feedback.
  • Each event offers our Gold Standard PBL 101 Workshop, and may include PBL Leadership Workshops, PBL Coaching Workshop, advanced PBL 201 sessions.

Who Should Attend

  • Teachers, school and district leaders, instructional coaches for K-12 schools who are looking to gain the skills and knowledge for successful and sustainable implementation of PBL.
  • Our workshops are designed for educators who are new to PBL and those who are ready to delve deeper into role-specific and advanced workshops.

We bring together dedicated teachers, instructional coaches, and school leaders to build their capacity for implementing and sustaining Gold Standard PBL in the communities they serve.

PBL World features BIE’s Gold Standard PBL 101 Workshop, which provides participants with the skills and knowledge needed to design, assess, and manage a rigorous, relevant, and standards-based project. Hillfield Strathallan College (HSC), an independent day school for students from Pre-K to Grade 12, is excited to be hosting the second annual PBL Canada Institute this August (20-22). HSC is located in beautiful Hamilton, Ontario, located halfway between Niagara Falls and Toronto.  

The following three day workshops will be offered.

  • PBL 101
  • For PBL 201, select from two strands: Building a Learner-Centred Classroom OR Improving the Quality of Student Work

In addition, we are gathering a list of participants interested in either the PBL Instructional Coaching workshop (for Administrators and Instructional Coaches) or the PBL Leadership workshop (for leaders who are either seasoned or new to PBL). If there is sufficient interest, one of these two sessions will also be offered.

Join us the for third annual PBL Ohio Institute proudly held in collaboration with the Buck Institute for Education.  Last year, PBL Ohio hosted 600 participants from all over the world.  Early Bird Registration ends April 1
