Events

The Buck Institute for Education offers conferences for Project Based Learning (PBL) that include professional learning opportunities for teachers, leaders, and instructional coaches. These events include BIE's exemplary workshops, inspiring keynote speakers, and community building opportunities to catalyze transformational change in teaching and learning.

In addition to BIE's popular PBL World, the Buck Institute for Education also partners with educational organizations (school districts, county offices of education, instructional service providers) to offer PBL Institutes, which are facilitated by BIE's premier National Faculty and provide regional opportunities to build capacity for implementing and sustaining Gold Standard Project Based Learning.

Please see the events below to find a PBL workshop near you. Workshops at these events may include: Gold Standard PBL 101 workshop, Leadership Academy, Coaching Academy, PBL 201 Sessions, and Keynotes. For more information about each event, please contact the host organization directly by following the "Register Now" link.

PBL World 2017

The 6th annual PBL World is coming back to Napa Valley, California, June 20-22, 2017. This year we’ve added a full-day “Project Slice” pre-conference workshop on June 19th.

PBL World is hosted by the Buck Institute for Education, and it’s the premier conference for Project Based Learning. Each year it brings together dedicated K-12 teachers, instructional coaches, and school and district leaders who want to connect with each other and learn more about PBL.

The heart of PBL World is the professional development workshops facilitated by BIE’s expert National Faculty and staff. Participants in the PBL 101 workshop learn how to design or adapt a project for their own classroom. People who have already had the PBL 101 can attend the PBL 201 workshop, which goes deeper into specific aspects of designing, assessing, or managing projects.

In the PBL Leadership workshop, school and district administrators create a plan to initiate and sustain the use of PBL. In the PBL Coaching workshop, instructional coaches develop plans for supporting teachers in doing PBL well. In addition to the workshops, PBL World features keynote speakers, panel discussions, and networking events.

We believe PBL transforms students – and PBL World transforms educators!
