Overview: Research & Evaluation
Our research addresses educational questions and practices that are consistent with a vision for engaged learners and supported teachers.
BIE conducts research in order to:
- improve the design of our materials and professional development offerings;
- evaluate the results of problem and project based learning methods; and
- inform the work of leading educators, policy makers, and researchers.
Our newly defined goals are to increase the availability of high quality:
- evidence about the impacts of problem based learning; and
- advice for educators about effective project based learning.
The focus of our recent research has been our problem based economics (PBE) curriculum. We are also increasingly conducting research on project based learning and evaluating technology supports for teacher professional development, like PBL-Online.org.
Archives of our technology research and our other past research efforts are also available.Please contact Jason Ravitz for additional information.
