David taught social studies and language arts for six years in an urban middle school in southern California before moving to the Bay Area to create the American Studies program at New Technology HS in Napa, where he taught for four years. He has worked extensively as a PBL trainer, program developer and curriculum coach for the North Carolina New Schools Project, the Ohio Resource Center, the Oracle Education Foundation, the National Academy Foundation and the New Technology Foundation. David founded the Novel Approach Consulting Group and ran the business for four years before joining BIE on May of 2008 as the Director of Professional Development. David has a B.A. in Comparative Literature and an M.A. in American Literature as well as a multiple subjects credential and two single-subject credentials (English and Social Science). David has completed the course work for his PhD in Education at UC Davis.
