What is it? Written by Ron Berger of Expeditionary Learning, this article from his time as a teacher at Shutesbury Elementary School explains his classroom culture. The emphasis was on projects in which students created high-quality products through a process involving critique protocols, public audiences, models of excellence, and lots of time for multiple drafts and rehearsals.

Why do we like it? As in his book An Ethic of Excellence, in this short piece Ron Berger powerfully communicates the message that much of what we ask students to do in traditional schooling is more about quantity than quality.
