Request for Proposals: Out of the Gate

The Buck Institute for Education (BIE) invites proposals from qualified researchers to conduct an evaluation of a multi-year grant-funded project, Out of the Gate: Teacher Education Program-District Partnerships for High-Quality Project Based Learning (PBL), awarded to the BIE from ECMC Foundation. The goals of this project are to: 1. Prepare new teachers to be ready to teach high-quality PBL in their first year of teaching and beyond 2. Evaluate PBL as an effective instructional method to prepare preservice teachers to be ready to teach high-quality PBL in student teaching and beyond This project seeks to build on limited existing research that shows that there are key benefits to using PBL to prepare preservice teachers, which are similar for K-12 students.
