For Problem Based Economics, BIE offers 3 types of training:

  • Workshops at BIE: training workshops at our office in Marin County, California.
  • Customized Workshops: training workshops at schools or district sites within the United States for ten or more teachers.
  • Workshops at National Training Sites at Centers for Economic Education across the U.S.

PBE binderTeachers who attend a PBE training receive a set of two binders containing:

• A Problem Based Economics Overview describing the pedagogical approach underlying PBE, the structure and sequence of the PBE units, and the Economic Standards addressed by each PBE Unit.

• The "Make More Money?" one-period activity to introduce students to problem based learning.

• Eight curriculum units including step-by-step guidelines for teachers, student handout masters, video and audio resources, sample multiple-choice tests and rubrics, and practical implementation tips.
