James Fester National Faculty
James has been teaching in the San Francisco area for over ten years. As a middle school teacher, he focuses on practices that engage student interest and ignite individual inquiry, which naturally brought him to PBL.
Currently, he is working as both a history teacher and a Teacher on Special Assignment supporting technology and PBL integration in his home district. He enjoys helping support his colleagues as they refine and develop their own best practices.
In addition to his teaching assignment, James is a Google Education Trainer and serves on the board of NorthBay CUE, regularly presenting at educational technology conferences all over California. He also leads experiential learning outings for students and teachers that use our nation’s national parks as living classrooms.
He is passionate about PBL because of how it engages students at their level and makes learning more relevant and accessible to students who struggle in traditional classroom settings.
