Rich joined BIE in 2017, as the Director of Partnership Development. He oversees new relationships with K12 school districts and other partners. He works closely with strategy implementation, advocates for project-based learning adoption, and for equitable access for all student to high quality education.
Before joining BIE, Rich co-founded and served as the VP of Professional Learning Services at PD Learning Network where he created and oversaw the development of an online professional development solution for K12 educators.
He is passionate about applying his more than 20 years as a teacher, administrator, staff developer, IT director, and curriculum coordinator to professional development in order to promote personalized learning that address equity issues. He is a national speaker who has presented on a wide range of emerging educational technology topics, including digital badges and micro-credentials, technology enhanced pedagogy. Additionally, Rich serves as a Lecturer within the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education at UC Santa Barbara and helps develop leadership capacity for cabinet level school district administrators as an Advisory Board Member of the Education Innovation Alliance.
Rich earned his B.A. in elementary education from Westmont College and holds a M.A. in Teaching English to Students of Other Languages from Seattle Pacific University.
