Sarah Shannon Former BIE Director of District and School Leadership
Sarah joined BIE in 2015 as a Systemic Partnership Coach, providing coaching and support to school and district partners implementing PBL. She also works with school and district leaders to build their capacity for leading the sustainable implementation of PBL.
Sarah graduated from Villanova University with a major in English and went on to earn her MEd from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA. Realizing that she had a love for the middle school child, she went on to teach seventh and eighth grade English during which time she had many opportunities to take on leadership roles. Sarah went on to earn an MEd in Organizational Management from Endicott College and transitioned out of the classroom and into middle school administration. Sarah was a middle school assistant principal for four years and principal for five years.
As a school administrator, Sarah's experiences included visioning, strategic planning and implementing whole school improvement and change efforts. In her most recent principalship, she led the implementation of PBL at the middle school level as the first step in a district-wide shift.
Sarah believes strongly that all children should experience PBL and enjoys helping teachers and leaders make that possible.
