International PBL Academy

June 14 marks the launch of our 2010 Project Based Learning Academy, which features a three-month series of workshops focused on general PBL training (PBL 101) as well as specialized learning labs on a variety of related topics, including Career Technical Education, Web 2.0 tools, curriculum mapping, administrative planning, and community based projects. This summer, the sessions are designed in themed weeks, such as math and PBL, technology integration in a PBL classroom, enhanced literacy in a K-5 PBL classroom, etc.

Participation in PBL 101 should be considered a prerequisite for participation in the advanced sessions usually scheduled for Thursdays and Fridays, but all sessions can stand alone. The sessions, taught by our renowned National Faculty, are limited to 25 participants.

All workshops begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 3:30 p.m. and take place at at BIE headquarters in Novato, CA. Registration fee includes a continental breakfast (available from 8:00 a.m.) and lunch. Laptops are not required except where noted, but are recommended. Dress is casual. School teams are encouraged to attend.

Marin County Teachers: BIE is pleased to offer five (5) free seats at each workshop in our PBL Summer Academy series to Marin County teachers. Reservations for these seats are first-come, first-served.  If you are interested and qualify, then please contact BIE Administrative Assistant Theresa Rowland (415-883-0122 x 302).

Workshop Cancellation: BIE reserves the right to cancel workshops two (2) weeks prior to the scheduled date if we have received fewer than twelve (12) paid registrations. Workshop registration will be refunded in full. BIE will not reimburse for any travel costs incurred by participants. BIE will inform registered participants by email of cancelled sessions.
