  • PBL Splash: This is an engaging 60-90 minute introduction to best practices in PBL design, assessment and management. These sessions, facilitated by our professional staff, are most often conducted at conferences or at the request of our partners, who want to provide administrators, community leaders, higher education partners, or the business community with an informative and inspirational lead-in to a long-term partnership.
  • PBL 101: This is an intensive, interactive workshop (onsite) intended to introduce teachers and instructional leaders to best practices in project design, assessment and management. It features hands-on work with our suite of project design, assessment and management tools, video analysis of best classroom practice and online exploration of PBL tools and project libraries. There is an expectation that teachers will emerge from this workshop with the draft of a project that they can implement in their classroom.
  • PBL Advanced Practices: This is an on-demand series of one- and two-day workshops that focus on a finer grain of PBL work from teachers and instructional leaders. There is an expectation that participants will have completed PBL 101 or its equivalent before attending these sessions. The sessions, delivered by our National Faculty, capitalize on their expertise in the following fields:
    • PBL and Curriculum Mapping
    • PBL and RtI
    • PBL and Web 2.0 Integration
    • PBL and Career Technical Education
    • Managing and Designing Groups in PBL
    • Critical Thinking and Student Work
    • Advanced Practices in Project Design
    • Subject Specific PBL
    • PBL and After-School Programs
  • International PBL Academy: June 14 marks the launch of our 2010 Project Based Learning Academy, which features a three-month series of workshops focused on general PBL training (PBL 101) as well as specialized learning labs on a variety of related topics, including Career Technical Education, Web 2.0 tools, curriculum mapping, administrative planning, and community based projects. This summer, the sessions are designed in themed weeks, such as math and PBL, technology integration in a PBL classroom, enhanced literacy in a K-5 PBL classroom, etc.
  • Project Based Economics & Government Workshops are no longer offered. However, each unit contains complete step-by-step directions and a detailed section on how to teach in a PBL environment. If you desire more assistance, we can connect you with high school economics and government teachers who have extensive experience with PBE and PBG, and who have worked as BIE PD Facilitators in the past.
