After studying various civil rights issues in class, the students were assigned a culminating project to showcase one specific movement in our Civil Rights Museum for Exhibition Night.  Products included biographies, art pieces, modern world connections, informational pamphlets, timelines, and an interactive component.

After several weeks of “Egypt Exploration Days,” in which they will learn about the features of ancient Egyptian civilization, they will choose one topic on which to become an expert. Then, each student will create a page for our book on their topic.

After learning about gender, adolescents and the media, Students selected a topic that they found especially moving throughout their course of study.  They then were shown examples from the Post-Secret blog and were asked to create their own postcard that displayed their feelings towards the a discussed topic.

San Diego Field Guide

Students conduct an environmental assessment of the fauna along the intertidal zone of San Diego Bay. They will publish a comprehensive Field Guide including scientific studies, creative writing, photographs, and histories of human development, industry, environmental measures, mapping and other changes to Bay.

Students explored bloody topics ranging from leukemia to the history of vampires. They then created a painting on a blood-related theme on a large piece of custom cut wood.  A rectangular opening housed a laptop displaying a DVD presentation with audio and motion graphics they had designed to teach the community.

Students examine prescriptive drugs, over the counter drugs, and illicit drugs from historical, societal, biological, and mathematical perspectives. Products include a storyboard for an educational drug movie, a five-minute educational drug video, a persuasive essay on an illicit drug, a lab notebook containing lab write-ups on drug synthesis, and a statistical analysis of drug use and awareness on the school campus.

Students will study historical and modern revolutions as well as key players in various revolutions.  In chemistry and math, students will learn about acids, bases, and logarithms.  They will combine these two seemingly different subjects through art!  Students will create an original artistic rendition of their revolution and etch the art onto a zinc plate.
