Meta-Synthesis of Learning Outcomes

This graphic represents a synthesis of findings from studies of problem based learning.  The graphic summarizes data from eight meta-analyses, each including ten or more PBL studies. It appears that PBL is more effective than traditional instruction for most outcomes.  A few short-term knowledge assessments show a negative impact for PBL, while other outcomes show a benefit for PBL use. The powerpoint contains a stand-alone version of this graphic and the original graphic article.
