PBL and Service-Learning

Although many schools require students to participate in community service, this tradition draws mixed reviews. Some students become deeply engaged in volunteer endeavors while others grudgingly track time served. By remodeling community service hours into service-learning projects, schools can maximize the benefits for students and communities alike. This webinar will offer strategies to improve the community service experience by integrating best practices from project-based learning. Examples will showcase projects that put equal emphasis on service and learning, increase student voice and choice, and strengthen ties between students and their communities. Presenter is Suzie Boss, a member of the Buck Institute for Education National Faculty, co-author of Reinventing Project-Based Learning, and a frequent contributor to Edutopia.org.

The webinar is offered at two different times on the same day.
